Anyone is welcome to attend. There will be two sign-up sheets in Buck Hall beginning on Sunday, February 8th. One is for those of you who would like to provide soup or bread to serve 10 – 12 people, and the other sign-up sheet is for each family who would like to attend so we know how many to plan for. If you would like to provide soup, find that family recipe you would like to share and show off your culinary talents.
There are several delicious soups featured in the 170th Anniversary Cookbook for Breakfast and Lunch! Please sign up each week for the following Thursday evening. Bring your own mug, soup bowl, and utensils.

The Book of Common PrayerAfter Shakespeare’s works and the King James Bible, no book has more influenced the English language than the Book of Common Prayer. It has helped to shape writers from Jane Austen to Charles Dickens, to T. S. Eliot and Joan Didion.
On Thursday evenings during the Christian season of Lent, Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley will offer a five-part series on common prayer, beginning on February 26 and continuing March 5, 12, 19 and 26. The sessions will begin with a soup supper at 5:30 and presentations will run from about 6 until 7 pm. |
Parish member Gage McKinney will lead the first session, focusing on the book's history and the experience of those who use it. The Rev. Seth Kellermann, rector of the Emmanuel Church, and Rev. Karen Hoida will lead subsequent sessions on portions of the book, including the daily offices, baptism and confirmation, marriage rites, and burial of the dead.
